SSDs are a type of solid-state drive that is faster than traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), but also more susceptible to data corruption.

Determining what to do when your SSD becomes corrupted is essential. There are two methods available for recovering data from a damaged SSD:

1. Disconnect the SSD

SSDs have grown increasingly popular due to their faster read/write speed, longer lifespan and enhanced security compared to Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). Unfortunately, like HDDs they too may experience errors and failures which means you could potentially lose all your stored data at some point.

The good news is that there are some straightforward solutions to recover data from a damaged or dead SSD without needing expensive data recovery services. For instance, Recoverit Data Recovery can quickly and easily retrieve your valuable information from an old SSD.

First, you must disconnect your SSD from your computer. This can be done using either Windows Device Manager or the disk management tool built-in to the operating system.

Next, run a scan on the SSD with Recoverit Data Recovery to detect all files present and transfer them onto your computer.

Once scanning is complete, select which files you wish to recover and click Recover. The software will begin file recovery on the drive and store your items on an external disk or another partition of your system.

Before recovering your files, be sure not to overwrite them with any new data. Doing so could render the lost documents inaccessible.

Additionally, make sure your computer has the most up-to-date driver updates installed. You can do this using either Device Manager or a free driver updater program.

If the error persists, power cycling your SSD may help. This method is useful for reviving a drive that has experienced issues due to power failure or surges.

You can also opt to remove the SSD from your computer and connect it to an external storage device, such as a flash drive or memory card. This method may be suitable if your laptop has become outdated and won’t boot up properly.

2. Run a Scan

SSDs use flash memory to store data, making them much more vulnerable to data loss and corruption than hard disk drives. Fortunately, there are numerous methods available for recovering deleted or corrupt files from SSD and USB drives.

One option is to try a data recovery program like Recoverit Data Recovery. This software is user-friendly and allows you to recover deleted files from SSDs or other storage devices with ease.

Once Recoverit Data Recovery has been downloaded and installed on your computer, select the SSD to scan and click “Start.” If your SSD is large, scanning may take some time before all necessary files are found.

Next, select “Deep Scan” mode to search for additional files. When scanning is complete, the software will display recovered documents so you can preview and select which ones to recover.

Before running the scan, be sure to backup all important files onto an additional drive. Doing this will help guarantee that the scan doesn’t overwrite any data in your possession.

Some recovery programs enhance their search for lost files by adding features that enable you to pause and save the scan status. This enables you to monitor the progress bar and file counter in order to decide when you can stop scanning.

Furthermore, some recovery tools offer the option to save a preview of lost files while scanning is still underway. This feature can significantly reduce scanning time.

This can be particularly useful if you need to recover multiple files and don’t have time to wait for scanning to finish.

Another solution is to utilize third-party software like Disk Drill or CloneZilla for creating a backup copy of your drive. Doing this allows you to quickly restore the data in case of failure.

If your SSD is showing signs of imminent failure, such as frequent crashes during boot or freezing during use, create a byte-level backup of the drive for use in case of catastrophic failure. Otherwise, you could find yourself stuck with an unresponsive drive that cannot be recovered.

3. Select the Drive

SSDs have become increasingly popular for their speed and smooth performance. Unfortunately, like any other storage medium, SSDs can also become corrupted and lose data.

Recovering deleted files from a dead SSD requires action quickly. The earlier you recover these items, the greater your chances of getting your documents back.

First and foremost, disable the TRIM command on your SSD drive. This is because TRIM causes the drive to delete certain files and can impede recovery efforts.

Alternatively, Disk Drill can create a byte-level backup of the SSD and copy it onto another drive. Doing this ensures that if the disk is reformatted, all data will be recovered.

Once you’ve created a byte-level backup, run a scan with Disk Drill recovery software to see if any files are recoverable. If so, select those you wish to recover and store them safely elsewhere.

Once you’ve selected your files, preview them to assess their quality. Doing this will enable you to determine which files deserve further investigation and which should be deleted.

Filter the scan results to focus on specific types of files for efficient recovery. This will guarantee a speedy process.

Finally, you have the option to save the recovered files to another partition or drive and then transfer them back onto your hard drive. Furthermore, you can rename or re-extend the file name accordingly.

Recovering lost data with a reliable and professional data recovery program is easy. Not only are these programs safe and effective, but they’re capable of recovering files of all types. Plus, you can use them to recover information from hard drives or external USB devices that have been formatted or damaged due to viruses.

4. Recover

When a SSD or USB is damaged, data can be lost. Fortunately, there are ways to recover this information. The first step in recovering data from an SSD or USB is disconnecting it from your computer.

Once the scanning has been completed, the software will display any recoverable files in its list.

Depending on the amount of data stored on your SSD or USB, scanning may take some time. Please be patient and do not interrupt the process.

Once the scan is complete, select any files you wish to recover and click Recover with a specified destination in mind.

You have two options for recovering recovered files: save them to an external drive or system partition. This is safer than trying to recover them on the original storage device, since doing so could overwrite them.

Another solution is to update the SSD firmware or Windows drivers. These are essential for guaranteeing proper operation of the drive and can be done using third-party tools.

One of the primary reasons SSDs fail is due to malware or viruses wreaking havoc on their storage drive. Malware can damage the drive and prevent access to files, but once removed from the system, everything should work normally again.

Another potential cause is that your SSD’s firmware has become corrupted, preventing it from functioning optimally. To resolve this problem, run a tool to verify if the SSD has the latest firmware and, if required, install it if necessary.

If the SSD’s firmware is damaged, it will prevent it from reading or writing data. This can occur if the firmware is corrupted, the SSD is incompatible with an operating system, or updates were not performed promptly.

Additionally, SSDs can become corrupted due to age, physical damage or heat – these factors are less frequent but still potential causes of failure. Nonetheless, it is still recommended that you back up your important files before the device fails and you lose all your valuable information.
