If you are a computer owner, sooner or later you would realize that your computer is not as fast and efficient as it used to be. For some users this may simply be because they have upgraded their hardware devices. If your PC was upgraded recently, then there is a big possibility that you will experience a decrease in its performance. It can also happen if you have been using the same hardware device on another computer system for quite some time. Regardless of the reason, you will definitely find yourself seeking tips on how to repair computer motherboard if your PC suddenly encounters a dramatic reduction in its speed.

When you encounter difficulty in your computer’s performance, the first thing you should do is to check your computer’s motherboards. Your PC’s motherboard is the one responsible in delivering and transferring data from the computer’s main CPU to all installed desktop PC hardware components. Your PC’s motherboard also performs similar functions like that of your CPU’s. The only difference is that your motherboard is placed on a different location, aside from the CPU and the central processing unit (CPU) on your desktops. Hence, it is quite likely for your motherboard to suffer from wear and tear that affects the communication process among your PC hardware devices.

The common causes of motherboard issues are either hardware related or software related. Hardware related issues with your motherboard usually occur when the PC itself develops a fault; this usually happens when it has developed a fault due to improper maintenance, overheating, or when the software is corrupted. A software issue occurs when the installed applications are not compatible with your computer’s motherboard. In order to resolve these issues, you need to replace the faulty software or uninstall it from your computer.

Although these reasons might seem too minor to warrant your attention, you should not ignore them especially if they are affecting the performance of your computer. Should your motherboard experience hardware related issues, you can still take measures on how to repair computer motherboard problems by performing a few routine maintenance tasks on your PC. For instance, you can check the coolant level in your computer and perform regular maintenance tasks like periodic cleaning of your PC’s fan, checking the battery’s charging status, switching off your monitor when not in use, and occasionally replacing the heat sink’s fins to keep your computer from overheat.

Aside from performing some of the maintenance tasks mentioned above, you should also check if your motherboard has a chip inside. If chip exists, then this will also have an effect on your PC’s performance because your PC will have difficulty in communicating with the motherboard. You can easily identify if your motherboard has a chip or not through a simple test commonly referred to as a motherboard test. This test works by putting your PC into a cooling system and then accessing the BIOS by pressing the F2 key. Through this test, you will be able to know if your computer requires a new motherboard or not.

If you have a damaged chip in your motherboard, then you need to find a professional who can solder the chip. With the help of a solder, you will be able to replace the broken portion of your computer’s motherboard. However, there are some cases when a chip can’t be repaired. In this case, your next option is to purchase a compatible chip or a generic motherboard. These chips are made by several companies and are available at different prices. In most cases, a branded motherboard will perform better than a generic one because branded companies are more reliable and are better established in the market.
